The spiral sequence is slightly different than the summer but they looked great and like they were having a lot of fun, they ended up in 3rd place with 64.02 points and the highest technical mark of the short program. Skating to a Russian Medley for the long program they had a few mistakes, some problems on the second set of side by side jumps (the first ones, in combination, were beauties) and they missed the last lasso lift. Articles:

January 7th: Congratulations to our new national pairs champions, on their well earned first title. Articles: Marcoux, Buntin make a perfect pair

From the Ottawa Sun: BREAKING THE ICE: A few leftovers from last week's spectacular Canadian figure skating championships in Edmonton:

 - Gatineau's Valerie Marcoux and partner Craig Buntin of Kelowna, B.C., became Canadian senior pairs champions last Saturday afternoon, but most of the Marcoux family had to wait until the evening to see their brilliant free program. That's because the event was shown on tape delay on CTV.

Marcoux' mother, Anne, was in Rexall Place and saw the big moment in person. Back home in Gatineau were her father, Jules, older sister Stephanie, 27, and her grandparents.

"My sister didn't want my mom to phone her (with the results)," Marcoux, 23, said in the exciting moments after the stunning win by her and Buntin.

Turned out to be a welcome phone call in the end.
